Firoz Rafi, is immensely concerned with design as an Art. He began painting on the fabrics, with the formative years immersed in painting with grass-root level artist, exposed to the rich nature, culture, and traditions, his work and quality of products caught the imagination and appreciation of women connoisseurs all over the world in a very short span of time.

He is a member of Indian Handicrafts Artisans community recognised by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. He is having more than twenty-five years of experience in the field of art and creativity. The luscious textile reflecting the vivid color of the art is a never-ending process. His sense of color and art is God gifted. He has learnt different techniques from various countries like Dubai, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia etc. He met many artists from different countries and learnt various forms of art. He loves sharing his technique and the experiences that he has gained through the years. He gave life to his passion and love for nature and design through his various painting skills.

Techniques

For centuries people have painted on fabrics creating beautiful wearable arts. There are numerous types and shapes of brushes that generate a spectrum of texture in paintings. Various Artists are trained to do detailed and exclusive designer work on fabrics. The fabric is dyed and painted by using acramins dyes and pigments. Gutta Serti technique is used on pure silk. Serti is a silk painting technique that originated in France. The technique requires sketching the outlines of the design with gutta a thick substance from a type of rubber tree that prevents the colour from spreading and intermixing. The colours are then fixed by steaming the fabric for hours in steel containers through a special process. After that, it is dry cleaned to wash off the gutta. The result is beautiful n vibrant colours appear on the fabric. The most dynamic and creative aspect of painting on the fabric is the creative process to produce quality work.
